If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

Romans 14:8 (NIV)

In our scripture reading today, we are reminded of our lives' true purpose. It doesn't lie in worldly possessions or achievements but in belonging to our Lord, living for Him, and ultimately returning to Him. Whether in life or death, our existence finds ultimate meaning and purpose in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

You see, when we live for God, we awaken a joyful obedience in our hearts. It's out of love rather than obligation that we choose to align our desires, ambitions, and actions according to His will. It's because we know that all we are, all that we have, belongs to our Heavenly Father.

This does not imply that struggles won't come our way, but it serves as a reminder that even in our lowest moments, even in death, we still belong to God. His presence in every aspect of our lives provides us comfort knowing that He is sovereign over it all.

Today’s Prayer:

Gracious and loving Father, We thank You for reminding us of our singular purpose - to live for You. Guide us to make choices that honor You and align with Your will. In times of triumph and trials alike, help us to remember we belong to You. As we walk through this life, may we find solace in the assurance of Your sovereignty over everything. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
