Opening the Door to Christ
Aug 14, 2025
[To the Church in Laodicea] “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.
Revelation 3:14,20 (NIV)
Today's verse invites us into a profound understanding of our relationship with our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. It sheds light on him as the "Amen," asserting his unchangeable truth and finality. He is also referred to as the faithful and true witness, emphasizing his unwavering reliability and accurate reflection of God's character. His title as the origin of all creation throws light on his eternal existence and involvement in the creation.
Our reading today powerfully draws attention to an incredible promise. Jesus stands at our hearts' door, knocking. He is not an intrusive Savior. He doesn't barge in, rather respects our free will and patiently waits for us to invite him in. This echoes of His love, humility, and patience towards us. It paints a beautiful image of intimacy, fellowship and communion that Jesus desires with us.
By opening the door of our hearts, we are saying yes to a personal relationship with Him. We allow Him to establish His kingdom within us. The world might offer temporary satisfaction, but the peace and joy we find in Christ are incomparable and everlasting.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for revealing Your Son as the Amen, our faithful and true witness, and the beginning of creation. I humbly request you to give me the strength and courage to open the door of my heart completely for Jesus. Help me to hear His knock amidst the noise of this world and invite Him in. Thank you for the privilege of a personal relationship with my Savior. I ask this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
