Pressing Towards The Goal
Jul 28, 2025
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14 (NIV)
Many of us can identify with feeling stretched, striving to reach our own personal goals in life. Whether it's a secular goal or spiritual ambition, the pursuit can often leave us feeling stretched and strained. Yet, in today’s verse, we learn of a different kind of striving.
Rather than pushing ourselves towards worldly success or recognition, we're urged to press on towards the ultimate prize – a heavenly calling in Christ Jesus. Unlike our earthly endeavors which can leave us feeling inadequate or drained, pursuing Jesus fills us with joy, lifts our spirits and brings us closer to Him.
The Apostle Paul isn't asking us to abandon our ambitions but rather encouraging us to prioritize appropriately, placing the pursuit of Christ above all else. This doesn't guarantee that the journey will be easy or free from hardship, but it assures us that at the end, the prize will be worth the race. Stand firm then, brothers and sisters, with your eyes focused on Christ, for He is our ultimate goal.
