Embracing the Kingdom with a Child's Heart
Jul 23, 2025
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14 (NIV)
In our reading today, we find a perfect reminder of the purity and openness of heart needed to enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Jesus invites us to approach Him, and by extension, the Father, with the innocence and earnestness of a child. A child does not allow past failures, societal pressures, and human reasoning to cloud his perspective. Instead, he responds in faith, open-hearted, truthfully, without guile.
The world often pushes us to accumulate knowledge, experience, and sophistication. While these are not inherently bad, they should not make us lose the simplicity and faith that mark true children of God. May we learn to unload the burdens of adult woes and embrace a childlike faith, trusting in our heavenly Father’s goodness and provision implicitly.
Just like a child, let us joyfully anticipate the goodness of our heavenly Father, always move towards His path of light, and receive His divine wisdom without doubt or hesitation. This indeed is the way into the kingdom- a heart that embraces faith like a child.
