In our reading today, we are reminded of the depth of Jesus' love, as he encourages his followers to keep his commandments. This isn't a heavy demand made by a stern overlord, but an invitation from a caring friend who desires the best for us.

By keeping His commands, we stay in His love just as He stayed in His Father’s love by living in obedience. Jesus' life was marked by obedience to the Father’s will, even when it led Him to the cross. He not only taught and preached God’s word, He lived it out diligently every day.

The same is asked of us. We are to live in obedience to God’s commands. This does not guarantee a life free of adversity or hardships, but it assures us of abiding in His love. It's within this space of trust and obedience that we experience the profound depth of God's love and grace.
