The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)

In our world of instant gratification, patience can seem like a lost virtue. How much more astounding then, is the patience of God illuminated in today's verse! God’s delay isn’t due to lack of care or ability, but sprouts from His mercy. His desire is for none to perish, but for all to come to the redemptive knowledge of Him.

The divine patience exhibited by God is not one associated with idleness, but is active, purposeful, filled with compassion and love. As we interact with those around us, specifically those who have yet to know Christ, let us remember this image of God's patience.

This invites us to question how can we align ourselves with this attribute of God? A beautiful place to start would be cultivating patience in our own lives. Remind yourself daily that every person you encounter is someone God is patient with, someone He dearly loves.

Let us also remind ourselves that His timing is impeccable, even when it seems lengthy from our perspective. Today, let’s surrender our hurried timelines, and embrace His perfect tempo.
