[The Narrow and Wide Gates] “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV)

In our reading today, we are invited to consider two paths: one broad and easy, the other narrow and difficult. Given a choice, most of us would naturally choose the wide and comfortable route. This path offers immediate gratification, popularity and a sense of belonging. It's the path that the world often entices us to follow.

However, Jesus calls us to venture onto the narrow path, regardless of how daunting it may appear. The narrow way speaks of self-sacrifice, humility, and godliness. It's not a path chosen for popularity or worldly success, but one that leads towards spiritual growth and eternal life. It's not an easy journey, yet it's the one that brings us the closest to our Savior.

Venturing onto the narrow path requires courage and steadfastness. Often, we may feel alone or misunderstood, but we should remember that it is this path that leads us to everlasting joy and peace. There is no greater reward than being in the company of God.
