Eternity in a Moment
Jun 7, 2025
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:2,4 (NIV)
Considering our readings today, we reflect on the concept of God's timeless nature. The psalmist impressively encapsulates God's eternal perspective that vastly outreaches our limited, human comprehension.
To grasp the magnitude of this concept, imagine a beautiful beach. Each grain of sand is like one day of our lives. Now see yourself holding just one grain in your hand. This represents a single day, today. When you compare your solitary grain to the countless others on the beach, it gives some sense of eternity.
Yet, even this illustration falls short. God existed before the beach was formed and will exist when it is no more. Imagine the comfort and assurance this should bring us. God who was here before us, remains with us every day, and will be there when we leave this earthly realm. He is not bound by time and neither is His love for us.
Today, let us hold fast to this wonderful assurance: regardless of what we face, our God is constant, timeless, and eternal. His love for us never changes with the shifting sands of time.
