The Promise of His Return
Jun 2, 2025
so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Hebrews 9:28 (NIV)
As we reflect on our reading today, we encounter a powerful reassurance: Christ will come again! He came once to deal with sin by offering Himself as the perfect sacrifice. But when He reappears, it will be for our salvation, not related to sin. It's a clear testament to the depth of God's love, a love so profound that He willingly sent His son - not once, but twice.
In this world, we often find ourselves burdened by fear, insecurities, and the weight of sin. We question our worth and falter in our faith. But today's verse is a bright light in our darkness, reminding us that Christ’s work isn’t finished. He will return not to condemn us further, but to complete our redemption.
It’s easy to forget such promises when witnessing the decay around us—violence, hatred, prejudice, and more. Amid these trials and tribulations, let this truth comfort us: Christ will return for us, out of His immense love. This should give us hope to persevere in our Christian walk, no matter the struggles we currently endure.
