Heaven's Promise: A New Beginning
Jun 1, 2025
I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 21: 2-4 (NIV)
Today's scripture reading fills our hearts with hope and anticipation for the glorious future God has in store for us. The holy city, presented as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband, signifies a new beginning. It's not just an end to the old, but a dawn of something extraordinary, pure, and holy.
The pain we experience here on earth is temporary; God promises to wipe away every tear from our eyes. Gone will be the sorrow, the pain, and the heartache. While we may struggle now with life's challenges, it brings comfort to know that these struggles are not our final destination. Our reading today reminds us that a time is coming when God will make everything new.
While we look forward to this glorious future, we should also strive to live each day with this hope in the forefront of our minds. It can influence how we interact with others, how we handle trials, and most importantly, how we view our relationship with God.
