For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

John 3:17 (NIV)

Our reading today reveals the compassionate heart of God who, seeing our fallen state and desperate need, sent His best to rescue us. The scale tilts not in the favor of condemnation, but rather God's enormous grace and love for us. Every day we reap the benefits of this incredible gift.

We often imagine punishment as the necessary end of our wrongdoings. It’s paramount in our human-led justice system. Yet, in God's ultimate wisdom and compassion, he deviated from that expected pattern. He sent His Son not to act as judge, jury, and executioner, but as a redeemer, savior, and restorer.

This is an invitation to embrace God's redemptive narrative for each one of us. We can err on the side of love instead of judgment—just as God did—for in doing so, we embody the very purpose of Christ's mission. Let this wonderful truth give us pause today, encouraging us to lean not into condemnation of others or ourselves, but into understanding, forgiveness, and the pursuit of peace.
