Unity and Praise: A Shared Harmony
May 20, 2025
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:5-6 (NIV)
In today's verse, we are encouraged to embrace a shared spirit of unity. We are inspired by God’s unwavering patience and comfort. That same kind heart should teach us, His followers, how to live in peace with one another.
In a world that too often highlights divisions rather than unity, this message is particularly important. Visible harmony among believers is a profound means of witnessing to non-believers. A united church – one body moving together in spirit and purpose – is a picture of the kingdom of God here on earth.
Furthermore, we see that this unity serves a higher function beyond just communal peace. When we are united, it makes our praise of God not simply a cacophony of singular voices, but a symphony of worship. A collective shout from one accord - how beautifully pleasing that would sound to God's ears!
So let's commit to living out this scripture reading in our own lives. Let's strive for unity, and in that unity give praise to God. For only in unity can we truly fulfill the Lord's call for us to glorify Him.
