“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (NIV)

Today's scripture speaks of victory, a reassuring promise of triumph over death. This victory is possible not by our own strength or efforts, but through Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate price for us on the cross.

It's natural to fear death. It is, after all, the ultimate unknown. But it is in this verse that we find reassurance. Death has lost its sting because of Jesus' victory. We're reminded not to live in dread of death, because in Christ, death is not an end, but the beginning of eternity with Him.

Perhaps we should consider this not just for physical death but also for the figurative deaths we may experience in life; losses, endings, failures. In every situation, we can claim the victory, knowing that these moments of ‘death’ will lead to resurrected hopes, renewed faith, and transformed lives in Christ.
