[Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom] For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)

Today's scripture reading brings to light the divine paradox that confronts us daily as Christians. To many, the message of the cross seems foolish – an antiquated relic of a bygone era. To us who believe, however, it is the very embodiment of God's power, the fulcrum on which history itself turns.

The world looks for wisdom in intellectual pursuits and human achievements. But the profound wisdom of God confounds worldly knowledge. Through the cross, a symbol of disgrace and humiliation in human eyes, God orchestrated the grandest display of His love and mercy. In this 'foolishness', He outsmarted the wise, and revealed His wisdom to those humble enough to receive it.

The lesson from our reading today challenges us to embrace the cross with boldness. Let us not shy away from its message because others see it as folly. Instead, let us confidently proclaim the cross's powerful message of salvation, knowing that it is God's wisdom at work.
