Grace in Weakness
Apr 10, 2025
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:6-8 (NIV)
In our reading today, we are gently confronted with our weakness and need. Our human condition is made clear - that without Christ, we were powerless against sin and destined for eternal separation from our loving Creator. However, the beauty of these verses also lies in revealing God's unrelenting love for us.
God's grace doesn't wait for us to become worthy. It doesn't stand on the sidelines, watching until we've cleaned ourselves up or pulled ourselves together. No, while we were still weak, while we were still sinners - Christ died for us. This is the heart of the gospel.
The message of these verses isn't about our weaknesses or failures; it's about His strength and righteousness. It's about the overwhelming grace of a God who went to the greatest lengths possible to save those He loves.
