For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (NIV)

Our understanding of Christ's love for us shapes how we live our lives. When we truly grasp the depth of His love, it becomes a compelling force that influences our thoughts, actions, and interactions with others.

Today's reading calls attention to this profound love, a love so deep it led to the sacrifice of Jesus Himself. The realization that Christ didn't die for an abstract concept, but for each one of us individually, should evoke a transformation within us. This transformation should lead us to not live for ourselves alone, but for Him who gave His life for us.

The scripture reading reminds us of the selfless act to which we're called daily - living not for ourselves but for Christ. For when we surrender our lives to His service, we allow His love to shine brightly through us. As followers of Christ, we must strive to live lives that reflect the same selflessness exhibited by our Savior — lives that are permeated with love for God and compassion for His people.
