Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus
Apr 3, 2025
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
In our reading today, we are urged to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. This verse brings a powerful image to mind: a runner in a race, looking only towards the finish line. We, like the runner, are encouraged to focus exclusively on Jesus, who is both our goal and our guide.
In life’s marathon, we will continually encounter obstacles that seek to divert our attention and derail us from our spiritual journey. Yet, in these moments, we must remember to keep our gaze steadfastly upon the Savior. Like a lighthouse beacon guiding ships through dark, stormy nights, Jesus illuminates our path, guiding us safely through life's trials and tribulations.
Jesus endured all things for the joy set before Him. He endured the cross, disregarded its shame, and now sits at the right hand of God. His example is a source of strength for us. Regardless of what we face, when we fix our gaze on Jesus, when we run our race with perseverance, we find the hope and strength to endure.
