For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 (NIV)

In today's scripture reading, Paul reminds us of the significant role Christ plays in our relationship with God. He is the mediator, the bridge between humanity and the Divine, conveying our prayers, desires, and needs to God.

We often feel overwhelmed by our sins, our failings and shortcomings. We may even wonder if God can truly love or forgive us, given our imperfections. Yet, our reading today provides assurance that it is precisely for imperfect beings like us that Jesus came into the world. Through Him, we find redemption, grace, and mercy.

Similarly, Jesus redeems us by His sacrifice. His death on the cross was not a random event, but a divinely appointed act of love. It was the ransom paid for humanity – a price only He, as God and man, could pay. In this truth lies our greatest hope and the foundation of our faith.
