Feasting on Spiritual Milk
Mar 20, 2025
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
1 Peter 2:2-3 (NIV)
In today's verse, Peter's words remind us of the importance of seeking spiritual nourishment. Just as newborn infants crave milk, our souls should long for the pure, spiritual milk of the Word. This craving is not born out of mere curiosity or duty, but a deep desire to grow closer to the Lord, to understand His will, and to mature in our faith.
It's easy for us to become consumed by our physical needs and the tangible aspects of life. We focus on satisfying our hunger, thirst, and other necessary urges. Meanwhile, we often neglect the spiritual nourishment that truly sustains us. How then can we rekindle this craving? The answer lies within nurturing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
As we taste and see that the Lord is good, as stated in our scriptural reading today, it creates a longing within us—a longing only satiated by God's Word. The more we read, meditate, pray, and seek His face, the more we desire to be in His presence. Such an appetite fortifies our spiritual growth, equipping us to stand firm against the storms of life and enabling us to serve others more selflessly.
